On Wednesday, me and a couple friends took some stuff (wood, coolers, garbage cans, anything) and made an airsoft field in my backyard. It is quite small, and shaped like a square, but with two long points sticking out (like a devil head, only squared off, and fenced). There is a deck, with a stair access, and a tree climbing access. Then under the deck (which is on the second story and connected to the house) we have a large basement. With normal height ceilings, but it's about 5 ft. from the floor to the outside ground. It is all unfinished, dirt floors, different level platforms (varying roughly 6 ft), and a ton of junk. Like a roof rack, chairs, paint canisters, wood, and a lot of boxes. It is roughly 400 sq. feet. Outside it's probably 850 sq. feet. We use both areas.
Anyway today at about 5:30 I got six people to come over to play. We played until about 9:00, it was so much fun. And all of us used springers. Mostly KWC pistols (Sigs), a Crosman P99, and my TM G3A3.
At one point a kid decided to go on the deck. It was 8:20 or so. It was a free for all round. Only three people were left. I decided to sneak up the stairs, as the barbeque grill blocks the view (part of it). Anyway, I had my G3, so I couldn't poke around the corner, it's 40 inches long. I was letting a kid use my pistol, so the G3 was all I had. I poked my head around first, and he was staring right back at me. I must have spooked him, because he didn't shoot, he just swore and ducked back behind the grill. I rushed down the stairs, and under some cover. I was feeling gutsy, so decided to try it again. While I was walking up the stairs, the other kid shoots me in the foot.
Anyway, the moral of the story is:
Even if your backyard looks too small, and your parents are cool enough to let you leave crap everywhere, then don't underestimate the backyard. This was one of the funnest wars I've had in awhile. And tomorrow my friend is bringing more stuff over. So I encourage you, to go get your old garbage cans, pots, and wood, and build a little backyard course.
