This picture was taken by inferno. This photo really doesn't show the shiny finish.
Introduction:
I bought this gun from David Jones (inferno) for $25 shipped. It came in it's original box, with the little bag of BBs, but it lacked the manual (if the original even came with one). This is a spring gun, and it was made about '88-'89. It is a unique springer though. Instead of the normal system, this gun can be cocked & fired with one hand. First, you depress the trigger, then pull the slide back. You then release the trigger, and the slide locks into place. You then push the slide forward (you can do so with your thumb), which chambers a BB and cocks the gun. You then pull the trigger, and repeat the process.
Aesthetics:
Well the box looks, fairly nice, with a nice picture of the gun. But I really don't care about the box. When you open up the box, there's the gun, and a small box, containing a bag of BBs. The BBs are kind of packaged how HFCs are now. But the first thing you see on the gun, is it's all too shiny finish. It is a gloss black, and the grips are a shiny brown which turns into a brownish-yellow at the rear of the grip. The only trades read on the left side:
P 75076 on the slide, followed by a SIG logo. Right below the slide trades, there's the same thing; P 75076, then a small logo, that looks like a backwards B attached to a P.
On the right side the trades read:
On the ejection port (which has a metal plate on it, which the trades are carved into) it reads SIG logo, 9 Para, then below it, that same number, P 75076. Right below the hammer it has the ASGK logo. On the magazine baseplate it reads:
Marukoshi
MADE IN JAPAN.
On the left side of the grip, there's one small screw, holding it into place, with a nut on the opposite side.
Function:
The slide lock is molded. So are the sights. The hammer isn't fixed, but doesn't lock back. On the lower part of the grip, is a lanyard mount. The magazine is of the bannana type, only it doesn't curve. This is a very unique mag though, and is like the KWC variety, there's a spring that you compress, then pour the BBs into. The mag holds 12. But this gun has a BB transfer system (like the Marui Colt Double Eagle). When you load the mag, and insert it. You have to press a button on the bottom to release the spring (like the UHC & HFC MP5s). When you do this, 8 BBs are loaded into a tube in the gun. Then you take out the mag, and fill it up all the way. If both the mag and tube aren't full, the gun doesn't shoot all the BBs. The positive thing about this, is that you have a capacity of 20. The negative, is that it's annoying, because if they aren't both full, you can't shoot all the BBs. The BBs also rattle around in the tube. The mag release is on the grip baseplate, it's a little lever that you pull out, to release the mag.
The safety is to the right of the trigger guard, and up a bit. It is labeled S (for safe) and S (for semi). The safety clicks when selected, although when on safe, when you pull the trigger fairly hard, it will switch to semi and shoot.
Performance:
What I find funny, yet sad, is that the mag will launch BBs just as far as the gun itself (it's a really strong spring, but still). This gun lacks hopup, it looks like it has an aluminum barrel too. The gun probably shoots 230 fps, and the BBs go about fourty feet accurately, and 55 ft. is the maximum range. So this isn't really a skirmishable gun.
Conclusion:
Well I assume most people won't ever see this gun, as it isn't made anymore. But if you do, don't expect it to perform very good. But if you want a cool little peice, just for messing around with, I'd pick one up.
I will get more pictures up this weekend probably, because I currently lack a digital camera.
Edit: Here are some pictures I just took. Sorry for the poor quality.
